How to Make Natural Sunscreen with Shea Butter

Melt 4 tablespoons shea butter, 2 tablespoons coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon jojoba oil. Cool slightly, then whisk in 2 tablespoons non-nano zinc oxide powder until fully combined. Add 10 drops carrot seed oil and pour into a tin. Apply liberally before sun exposure. This provides approximately SPF 15–25 protection.
Why Make Your Own Natural Sunscreen
Commercial natural sunscreen products typically contain 20-40 ingredients, many of which are synthetic preservatives, fragrances, and fillers. Making your own with raw shea butter as the base gives you complete control over what goes on your skin.
Homemade natural sunscreen using unrefined shea butter is not only more natural — it is often more effective. The high concentration of vitamins A, E, and F plus essential fatty acids in raw shea butter provides therapeutic benefits that diluted commercial formulas cannot match. Plus, a single batch costs a fraction of premium store-bought alternatives.
